What is this site?
There are a number of topics where I have seen a great deal of misinformation or simply misunderstanding of issues. This misinformation results in what I would call an “information fog” that leads people to get lost without a clear vision of the issues involved. My commentary on these issues is an attempt to cut through that fog and help people gain a better understanding of the real issues.
What is my background?
I spent almost 40 years as a software analyst and developer, beginning on IBM mainframe systems in 1975 and progressing through Web and Database design and development until my retirement at the end of 2012. During that time I worked as either an employee or a contractor at a large number of companies ranging from very small to quite large. These companies included Boeing Computer Services/Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, Security Pacific Bank, Washington Mutual Savings Bank, Weyerhaeuser, Blue Cross of WA/AK (now Premera), Microsoft, Airborne, MySpace, WA Department of Labor & Industries and many others.
I found over the course of my career that I have an aptitude for identifying patterns in both data and behavior, and I also seem to have some ability to explain technical issues in a non-technical way. I hope to use these skills here to dissipate the “information fog” I referred to earlier.
